Open Call for dance artists from Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans for residencies in Dance Residency Centre TELOCVIČŇA in Bratislava

Residency programme:
1. RESIDANCE
When: April - August 2024
- Residency for individuals or small collectives (max 3-5 dancers)
- Length of residency: 2 weeks
No thematic restrictions
Preference is given to artists from Central and Eastern European countries and artistic proposals that are considering sustainability within the creation process and mothers/families with children on maternity leave.
Number of selected project: 2
We provide:
- Spacious studio for rehearsals with basic equipment
- Accommodation in the adjacent artistic hub Nová Cvernovka
- Fee: 1000 €
- Mentoring, consultation (if needed)
- Networking with local dance community
We don't provide:
- Travel expenses, food
What we expect from the artists selected in both programmes:
- 1 public presentation at the end of the process (sharing session / artist talk / work in progress performance)
2. CONNECTOR - Dance & Science
When: November / December 2024
- Residency for individuals or small collectives (max 3-5 dancers)
- Length of residency: 2 weeks
A research residency focusing on linking methods of work in dance and natural science research in relation to current environmental challenges.
Preference is given to artists from Central and Eastern European countries
Number of selected project: 1
We provide:
- Spacious studio for rehearsals with basic equipment
- Accommodation in the adjacent artistic hub Nová Cvernovka
- Fee: 800 €
- Mentoring, consultation (if needed)
- Networking with local dance community
We don't provide:
- Travel expenses, food
What we expect from the artists selected in both programmes:
- 1 public presentation at the end of the process (sharing session / artist talk / work in progress performance)
3. CONNECTOR - MOVE IN (for Slovak young creators )
When: March - December 2024
- A residency for young artists individuals or small collectives (max 3-5 dancers) connecting them with established artists.
- Length of residency: 2 weeks

What we expect from the artists selected in both programmes:

Telocvičňa (Slovak word for Gym) is a spacious studio with basic equipment needed for dance practice and movement. It has been both a residential space and dance community centre since 2016 managed by a Slovak union of dance practitionnners themselves (cultivated by PLAST - Slovak Contemporary Dance Platform).

It provides conditions for research and training to a large number of local artists, it hosts discussions and research projects as well as workshops for both professionals as well as the public. Occasionally, in collaboration with partners, it hosts public showings as well.
It is integrated into the larger independent cultural hub - Nova Cvernovka.
From 2021, it is part of 2 international projects: Residance programme - offering international residency program a regional Visegrad project Nature of Us aimed at connecting art and science in the field of ecology .
Residency programme in Telocvičňa is supported by Slovak Arts Council.
