OKSANA SADOVENKO

Connector for Ukraine

Ukrainian visual artist shares her exploration and fascination with pigeons. For her pigeons are the voice of nature and meadow. They live in a place unsuitable for life, in the absence of grass, or trees, in the middle of a jungle of concrete. Painting and feeding street pigeons expresses her attitude with nature but also a new experience of homelessness.
Born in 1988 in Kyiv. Graduated from the National Academy of Fine Art, department of painting, Kyiv. Based in Kyiv. Her art practice is dedicated to street art and exploring urban space. In her ongoing project "Where pigeons sleep" she documents the life of street pigeons of her city. Oksana also works with children to study art history at Kyiv's educational institutions, Art4Kids children's studio, and the Cultural Project. As a result of working with children, in the 2021 artist created an art book about Kazimir Malevich for kids that was included to the lists of best children's books of 2021 from Ukrainian book resources Bokmal and Chytomo.
